Forbes has been documenting American urban and rural landscapes, around the cities of Philadelphia, New York and Santa Fe.
Forbes is interest in capturing a rawness, which includes human and non-human interaction. The messy noise of these spaces appeals to me; with their messages shouting out from all directions, including street signage, advertising hoardings, graffiti, murals, shops and restaurants. People in images can play an important factor, but there are situations where the human presence is felt by the detritus, that either panders to their need to consume or left behind after their consumption is complete.
The relationship between the landscape, buildings and the motor vehicle are important elements in the making of the image. The motor vehicle dominates virtually all aspects of the imagery, as everything is built with this in mind.
As, with much of photography the beautification effect is very effective with American urban and industrial street scenes.
